Rapper Vigdís Howser Harðardóttir might’ve discovered a new Icelandic monster with her recent accidental cryptid sighting at the Dettifoss Waterfall in the Vatnajökull National Park in Northeastern Iceland, posted on Instagram.
While traveling the country with her boyfriend, Harðardóttir visited the Dettifoss Waterfall, where she recorded the above video. She intended to record the waterfall and ended up capturing the strange creature on film along the way. It wasn’t until days later that she realized the possible cryptid in her video.
Harðardóttir defended the video, insisting there were “no drones, no birds, [and] no plastic bags” in the area. There were very few people around, according to the rapper, and no one in front of her when she was recording the video. Apparently, the cliff was “so steep it could not carry anyone.”
Despite the weird encounter, Harðardóttir made it clear she doesn’t believe anything supernatural appeared on film. She just found the video odd and wants help figuring out what exactly she recorded.
As shown in the video, an odd creature — or something else — appears on the cliffs in front of the waterfall. The figure looks relatively small in the video and moves around in an unnatural way. Unfortunately, the video zooms in on the waterfall, giving viewers only a few seconds to determine what the figure might be.
A few theories have been thrown about regarding what the video is showing. One of the most creative is that it’s an elf climbing on the rocks. Others have suggested it’s some type of lizard man in Iceland.
The most down-to-earth answer is that it’s a tripod camera stand, and this seems to be what most people believe. There are a few questions that arise, however, including how anyone could be holding the tripod if it is impossible to stand on the cliff.
What do you believe Harðardóttir recorded in this video? Was it a true cryptid sighting at the Dettifoss Waterfall in Iceland? Or something as simple as a stray tripod camera stand?
